As college students our days consist of one stressful class followed by an intense meeting, constant constructive criticism and endless streams of homework. Often, the idea of taking time to meditate or physically and mentally relax is overshadowed by all of the other obligations.
The Relaxation Room is a unique opportunity for all students that Pace offers on both the Pleasantville and New York City campuses. There is a large recliner with a built in massage chair in a room with dim lighting and a SAD Lamp that helps counteract seasonal mood swings and depression. In addition, there is soothing music that helps to ease your mind and gently coaxes students into reducing the day’s stress.
Gaining access to the Relaxation Room is simple, a student ID must be presented along with completing a short introductory workshop. Each session is limited to thirty minutes, but giving yourself even that small 2% of your day can make all the difference.
Currently this room is located by the Counseling Center and the Office of Student Assistance, but in the coming weeks it will be transferred down to Elm Hall, which will make it more accessible to students.
“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgement will be surer.” – Leonardo Di Vinci
