Pace University’s Women’s Group was created with the ideals to support, encourage and challenge the concept of power in regard to women.
Each session is hosted by Rachel Simon, the Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity Programs, LGBTQQ Coordinator. A broad array of topics is discussed for both men and women. Every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30pm in Kessel Student Center room 213/214 you will find Rachel amongst several other students hashing out challenging topics with the overall goal of demonstrating respect and empowerment.
Rachel Simon thus far has discussed Intersectional Feminism, Bodies and Body Language, and Human Trafficking alongside guest Rebecca DeSimone. DeSimone is the Director of the Human Trafficking Program at My Sister’s Place, a local organization that works to combat and bring awareness to domestic violence and promote respect for all.
The upcoming sessions will discuss Healthy Relationships with guest Kym McNair also from My Sister’s Place, Smashing Pumpkins, Smashing Stereotypes on Miller Lawn and Gender & Media.
In the months of November and December there will be an All Campus Community Meeting in Gottesman, Women and Politics, Rape Culture and Campus Sexual Assault, Dating and Sex, Healthcare’s Gender Biases with Karen Martin Pace University’s Associate Director of University Health Care, Women’s Work and Pay Equity followed by an end of semester celebration.
The Pace University Women’s Group touches on countless topics and subtopics where everyone can be involved in the discussion.
